Chieftain Fabrics Launch Just Patterns

Chieftain recently chose Cadbury World in Birmingham for the launch of the just patterns range of performance fabrics. Just Patterns is a brand new collection of patterned Crib 5 vinyls designed to complement the existing just colour collection from Chieftain.

Manufactured to meet the most rigorous of fire and durability standards, just patterns is perfect for any high traffic application where bright and upbeat accents are needed to lift the project.

Lionella-reduced PVC content faux leather

Lionella is a brand new faux leather for the 2012/2013 season. It has been designed to offer the feel and touch of leather with the efficiency and consistency of a faux leather.

To do this, we have taken phthalates, reduced the PVC content and added 15% PU to Lionella, which allows it to retain the strength of a PVC but have the soft feel of a PU. Furthermore, the support or backing cloth is 100% cotton, therefore, this product is totally renewable.

There are two grains within the range. Bourbon, consisting of 12 colours, and Tempo, with 8. It is heavier than a standard faux leather product, at 800 g/m². This is to simulate the appearance and feel of real leather. The product is also made to be extremely hard-wearing at 300,000+ Martindale rubs.

In the current market however, one of the key advantages of Lionella is its efficiency. The product is priced at approximately 1/3 the price of real leather per square metre and with less than 5% waste compared to up to 40% on a hide.

New distribution partners for Europe

Chieftain is thrilled to announce new partnerships with European based distributors.

In the Benelux countries and France, our product is sold and promoted exclusively by DUX International. DUX have been in business for over 20 years and deal exclusively in leather and faux leather. They are local distributors for Skai/Hornschuch and have a number of their own ranges.

In Germany, our products are available from Sack-Schneider. Located on Lederstrasse (Leather Street) in Müllheim, the home of leather, Sack-Schneider is a family business, operating for more than fifty years.

Both of our partners will stock our full range and will reciprocate all agreements that we have with our customers.

Just Patterns-new high performance range

Owing to the success of our best-selling Just Colour range, we have developed Just Patterns; a range of 18 patterned fabrics across two designs, co-ordinating shades with Just Colour.

Designed in partnership with Diane Harrison Designs in Cheshire along with Atelier Plan B in Düsseldorf, both of these Crib 5 ranges are not alone high-performance, high-hazard products, they use a new and improved formula using solvent-free, water-based inks and a reduced DOP plasticizer content.

Just Patterns will be sold at the same price as the Just Colour range of plain colours and is now available.

Reducing our footprint-reusing our packaging

The nature of our business, and the delicate structure of fabric means that we need to use a lot of packaging.

In order to minimise the amount of packaging we use in the first place, we have redesigned some of our processes.

We now use, where possible, biodegradable polythene when wrapping, and our cardboard cores are from sustainable sources only. Also, every pallet that comes in, goes back out again. Sometimes they take a bit of repairing but its something we're happy to do.

Chieftain supports Macmillan with Flourish Healthcare

Flourish Healthcare, based in London, have designed a specialist recliner exclusively for Macmillan. The recliner, which will be manufactured by IOA Healthcare in North Carolina, has been designed with the patients comfort and welfare in mind.

Flourish and Macmillan have chosen Chieftain Casco as their fabric of choice for this project.
