What does the term "contract fabric" mean?

The term contract fabric means fabric not intended for domestic use, and which is made expressly for heavy use.

I have a fabric sample. Can you match it?

What is the largest sample size you can provide me with?

Our standard sample size is A4, which we provide free of charge. Should you require a larger sample, please contact your nearest distributor.

Do you also supply furniture?

No. However, we work in tandem with all furniture manufacturers and upholsterers, who will all be familiar with our products. Contact us at +353 46 9431396 or use our contact form and we will be able to recommend a relevant supplier.

Is the Trimcell range suitable for contract purposes?

Trimcell is primarily for the domestic (home) market – it’s fire retardancy levels are Source 1 which is Cigarette and Match only. The required European standard for contract purposes is Source 1 and 5 (Crib 5).

Is the Just Colour range Contract standard?

Yes, the Just Colour specification can be used in any contract environment. Its fire retardancy is Source 1 and 5 (Crib 5)

What is the durability and strength of your ranges?

All fabrics sold in the UK undergo the martindale rub test to check their durability and suitability for various uses, i.e, curtains, domestic furniture, contract furniture. The test gives a score in 1000s of rubs.

Lionella is in excess of 100,000 martindale rubs
Just Colour is in excess of 100,000 martindale rubs
Trimcell is in excess of 50,00 martindale rubs

Are any of your vinyls suitable for aircraft seating?

Yes, all of our vinyls are suitable for aircraft seating. They are manufactured to both European Standard CS-25 and American Standard FMVSS 302.

Are your products suitable for outdoor use?

What are the cleaning guidelines for your products?

Our products are all designed with clean hygiene in mind. Clean with a damp soapy cloth and rinse thoroughly with clean water. A soft brush can be used for heavy soiling. As our products are waterproof they can be completely dried after washing.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Chieftain Fabrics offers a five year guarantee on our products. We confirm the following in respect of our guarantee on all current brand products

  • All product is supplied fit for purpose, as stated on the specifications
  • All products meet the stated technical specification current at the time of manufacture
  • All product meets the abrasion requirements of contract use
  • All products will normally provide up to five years’ usage providing: Appropriate good practice upholstery manufacturing methods have been used by the furniture manufacturer
    Good quality foams or waddings have been used to protect the fabric from any wood and/or metal edges
    Regular cleaning has been carried out by the end user, according to manufacturer’s recommendations
    Furniture has not been subjected to continuous usage
    Furniture has only been subjected to normal "wear and tear"
    Furniture has not been subjected to misuse or abuse

We reserve the right for our technical staff to investigate on site any claim arising from this product guarantee.
